Philip AdminWhen a file is uploaded with the *exact* same name as a track already in the library, users want it to be replaced instead of making a duplicate. This can be useful when the broadcaster needs to update the file with a better edit or corrected bit rate/sample rate.

Maggie GPhillip, what if a pop-up appeared and asked which we prefer when an exact match is uploaded... duplicate, replace, or cancel? That way, if it's an accidental duplication, it won't be uploaded again. If it's an updated version, it can replace the old version. And, if it's the same song, but something's different about it (artist, album, release date, etc), it can be labeled differently.

Progressive Rock AZUSAI would like to be able to do this as well. I need to re-mix some of my ID's and Promo's and being able to overwrite the current versions would save time and effort.

ZebI completely agree with Philip that all that should be required to replace an existing file in a library is to upload a NEWER copy of it with the exact same filename. Otherwise, you're going to start getting unintended duplicates, files with a (2) and (3) after their names, etc. Overwrite old file with new file, be done with it.

Philip AdminThis feature would be most useful for those who are using ClockWheels and have "top of the hour" events which get updated with fresh content every week. This way, the user could delete and upload the new file and the ClockWheel template (or playlist) will pick up on the change immediately (24 hour selection window, of course)

jim MergedI have a wheel running all day, if I add a weather forecast at 6am, it will play all day, even if I update the file. Would be nice to be able to update elements dynamically, maybe have a minimum advance time (say 15 minutes) so that a newly recorded weather report could be inserted into the weather slot when it comes up.
Maybe there is a way to do this, but if so - (other than a 1 hour playlist) I am not aware of how to execute this. -

Eldon Diaz-Henderson MergedIt would be nice o be able to overwrite existing files so that files for syndicated programs could replace the older files of the same name and events could simply play out the new file when the time came. I'm finding it a real battle to try to do what was easy with our last service.
