Scheduled stream relays
Have we considered an option to schedule a relay stream? Say for example you have your normal auto dj stream that plays out the songs in your library, but maybe you want to switch to another live stream for a few hours. The only way I see it working right now is to list the stream in sources and then schedule a playlist to play my songs. I think integrating stream sourcing into the playlist scheduler would be easier and increase flexibility as far as the number of streams we could host etc etc. I welcome thoughts...

It would be useful to have an Event Source type "URL Event" which would pull in audio from a URL. This would enable a station to pull in a file and play at a time/date as defined in the Event, eg a news bulletin or podcast episode where the source URL does not change when the episode updates, thus the event would always play the latest edition. The command format could look like: "Play URL: rss://www.mynews.org" or https://www.mynews.org". The feature would require the audio to be pre-loaded from the source URL, say a certain user-defined number of seconds before playout time. It might also be helpful if a number of options were included such as "Play on the hour" and "Play every xx minutes", but timing could equally be handled by the existing Event system. -

John MergedThe format of my station is primarily music, but I do feature some talk programming as well. Of course, all these are pre-recorded, uploaded audio tracks. However, I'd like to be able to carry one, maybe two syndicated live call-in shows that are fed in via relay streaming.
I realize this would not work for music programming due to licensing rules here, but it sure would be beneficial for broadcasters like me who wish to carry live shows available via third parties, especially for those who otherwise have no live DJs throughout the day.
These shows are fed in segments, allowing broadcasters to insert ad breaks at scheduled times throughout the hour, which means I can still insert the LIVE365 ad breaks and stay in compliance.
The platform I previously broadcasted with had the relay streaming option and it worked beautifully. Please consider adding this feature. -

Philip Admin MergedThanks for the insight into why a relay feature would be useful to you. We've had some requests about relaying a different Live365 station to your own as a way to share programming or let another host take over. My concern with your use case is the syndicated material. We don't have a way to verify that a Live365 customer has permission to broadcast the material. Also, if they have any copyright music inside of their programming then we would need metadata to be delivered as each track plays.

John MergedTo Moderator,
I should clarify that I'm speaking of live TALK shows.
The idea of relaying another LIVE365 station is good - hadn't thought of that. Problem is that I have no way of knowing which of our stations have live shows or live djs on a regular basis. There is also no way for us as a broadcasting community to communicate with one another that I know of, which leads to another feature suggestion - a broadcaster forum. Then we could exchange ideas and services. Thanks for your reply. -

Ragan Latson MergedI love the idea of being able to carry syndicated shows that are fed in via relay streaming, I think that would be a great feature to add

Jim Craven MergedMetadata will be an issue for most features that will be added. If you use an third party software such as SAM or Station Playlist, you can already do this. At least this feature would run directly through Live365 so that whatever is broadcast can be monitored by Live365 in the event there’s a questionable issue.

John Mouw MergedWe operate a licensed FM station and use Live365 to extend the range of our station. The issue we are having is that some of our programming such as produced music shows cannot be aired on the stream due to licensing requirements even though we have a playlist available from the show creators.
Our solution would be to activate the scheduler with a compliant stream and say after an hour or so the scheduled programming would end and return to the live source. Is this doable? -

Yukon Jack MergedI'd like to be able to use the Scheduler to schedule a Relay broadcast. When the schedule ends, the station would go back to AutoDJ or to the next scheduled event. As it is now, we have to manually start and stop a relay broadcast.

Audie SilcottAdding the ability to schedule relays should be a fundamental function. It is very convenient for owners and managers of stations to get more content going. Please add very soon!

Dawn MacBeing able to schedule a relay link would be amazing. It would certainly streamline things for producers who wish to air a relay link at a specific time.
A couple of things to note about the relay option:
1. When relay link is added, it does not start playing right away. I noticed a 30 minute delay before it started playing & once disconnected it continued to play even after it was deleted from the system.
2. It would be nice to have a scheduling feature so that relays can be scheduled to play at specific times and scheduled as an event like a playlist is. It could be offered as a scheduling option much like clockwheels and playlists are. This would make the process more automated and streamlined for producers. Otherwise, producers are left to manually administer the relay at will and this is cumbersome and not efficient. -

Harold CWe have a top of the hour news service that requires scheduling a relay link. I'm surprised Live365 doesn't already do this as most other stream host providers offer this option.

Marc MarinoYes I can schedule a relay in live web dj but that system seems now so primitive. I am walking away from live web.

Dave Clark MergedI am a current Live365 customer. I use your online file scheduler. I use a daily news service and It's time consuming to schedule the news audio files each day. Can you provide the option for using a static URL instead of uploading an mp3 file each day? This will allow me to schedule once and the news service will refresh the audio each day. This will also save Live365 some storage since many of these news service customers will no longer upload mp3 files as they will be stored in Radio Guild News' cloud storage.
