Directory Improvements
There are several improvements we are looking to make for the Directory to help better drive traffic to our many unique stations. We'll collect general feedback here.
Regular Refresh or AI handling of Landing Pages on Website and App.
Genre Refresh is necessary. Missing many relevant Genres (list coming soon)
Faith section should have it's own branding and space on the platform.
When Browsing Genres, Remove the 'Load More' from pages and load all with infinite scroll to display all Stations in a Genre or Sub Genre.

I think having a message indicating that the station is "off the air 'please try back later" is very much needed. The 404 message i have experienced is a deterrent to current and potential traffic to the station. As another suggestion maybe a toggle bottom directing to the calendar Thank you for the consideration. -

Ernie Mitchell MergedLet's reward the stations that are attracting the most listeners by showing them first within their respecitve genre listings. Something the 'old' Live365 used to do. For example, I'm pretty sure I have the top Funk genre station, evidenced by it usually appearing the overall Top Stations page. Well, it would be great when listeners searching on Funk stations seeing my station listed based on its ranking among other Funk genre stations - which would probably be #1, or near the top.

Chris MergedI'm sorry to say this. I object this idea because favoring stations of any kind bring an unfair advantage. Live365 does not need to bring back a bunch of old habits of favoring station by popularity of any kind.

Bogdan Admin MergedA Live365 wide chart that shows how popular each genre is in the Live365 directory. This information would be useful to broadcasters

Rick 97.3 The ARC MergedI'd have to say I agree 100% with Chris. Even though my station was number one in the genre listing on the ole Live365 , I always proposed for a fair algorithm that would allow everyone exposure. Also paid options, but never happened.

Brian Admin MergedThere have been lots of internal conversations about the direction that the Directory is going. We are devising ways that drive traffic to stations when a listener searches for certain genres or categories. We'd also like to feature new and trending stations. This needs to be automatic, as in the Directory will populate these listings automatically as stations statistics change.

Chris from Rockade Radio MergedI hope live365 be very careful. live365 is not youtube nor do I want to see the directory fall in the same unfair tactics similar to youtubes algorithm. I got nothing against featuring new and exciting stations but favoritism is what I don't wanna see on live365.

John MergedAs a new station, I have only a hand full of listeners - although my audience is slowly increasing. I do understand the concerns previously posted here, but as a new station, I need some way to let listeners know my station exists. There is no "New Stations" listing on the LIVE365 home page or app. May I suggest adding this section and list your newest stations? Or, I would even be willing to pay for an ad campaign on the home page if that option were available.

Dj Rage MergedWith only 5 genres, some stations are at a disadvantage if they play more than 5 genres. we consistently change genres, while different shows play (that play different genres). give the ability to the broadcaster to set what genres display when so as to coincide what show may be playing.

Thomas Callahan MergedAt the least the following Genres should be added: Holiday, Easy Listening, Rock, Blues. THE ONLY WAY to get listed under MAJOR HEADINGS now is through what I call sub-genres. i.e. I choose LOUNGE to get under Easy Listening, which does not totally represent what I do. I must choose British Invasion to get under ROCK. I am playing Halloween music now but there's only Christmas sub-genres to choose from. I play general Blues but not the sub-genres there. For the bigger search this is fine, but on my Station Profile Page, the one I promote. the 5 sub-genres show up.

Rich @ 97.3 The ARC MergedThere has been discussion among broadcasters that would like to see additional options for visitors/listeners when they visit the Live365 home page. A good example is the app that has a great structure showing a featured genre at the top, Top Stations, Spotlight stations (staff pics), and commercial free. Another suggestion would be a section using an Algorithm that just randomly pulls stations to give all broadcasters eventual exposure.
Would also like to see ONLY the "Top stations" section pulled based on TLH. it would be nice for all other sections to randomize the selections to make the exposure more inclusive.
Thanks for your consideration! -

Rich @ 97.3 The ARC MergedAnother thing I think would be a plus, is if all the static genre tags were actually linked so that when someone clicked on a sub like "Hard Rock, New Wave, College, Classic Hits etc, It would display only stations with that genre listed. Every list would always be random. I would also suggest that we have the ability to list them in "OUR" order of priority rather than a preset order. The first genre may apply but may not be the main focus of the station.

Rich @ 97.3 The ARC MergedWould also like to see the banners for genres include "ALL" the top level genres. Everything from Alternative to Rock to Metal and everything in between. Just add them all to the rotation.

Philip Admin MergedSome stations go off of the air intentionally, but would like to retain their profile page. This way, their community would still be able to see the profile page and not a 404 page.
We currently de-list inactive stations. A future version of the Directory might have a toggle switch that allows listeners to include "Off Air" stations in their search results. Inactive stations would not be shown by default, but they would have an active profile page. -

frank MergedAllowing listeners to search by station location could be highly beneficial for broadcasters who like to focus on a local/regional audience and help them build their brand. Allow broadcasters to opt in/opt out if they’re concerned about privacy.

Sake-bito MergedCurrently the order in which the selected genres for a station show up on one's station page and alongside the station icon in the station lists as they appear on the selected genre pages, cannot be rearranged by the broadcaster. I want to include all relevant genres but also want to arrange them by order of importance / relevance.

Sake-bito MergedI play a lot of rock with female vocalists and all-girl groups, but currently there's no "Female Vocalists" or "Girl Groups" genre available. I recommend adding some variant to designate these niches.

Sake-bito MergedThis is maybe a headache to do, but simplification of station URLs to something like "http://live365.com/__[station name]__ would be a valuable tool for publicizing stations - and indirectly, Live365 as a whole. The current URLs are nearly impossible for people to remember easily, particularly if you were going to put it on a bumpersticker or even a business card or post somewhere on the web. I'm thinking the format should be something a person could remember after just a glance and recall later once they get on the 'net.

Sake-bito MergedIndex page wall of blocks with specific stations is overwhelming, and you need to click "Discover more" to get to a list of genres; Generally people search first by genre, not by specific station, especially if they're first-time visitors; Suggest splitting index page into Genre Headers with a single, horizontally-scrolling set of station icons below each, with arrows at each end like the "Customers who viewed this item also viewed..." L-R scroll things on Amazon. Maybe list all genres in this way, and put the "Create your own" membership signup pitches in a separate field at the left column? Or just show five or six random genres and put a link to the rest below, as it is now - but I'd recommend changing the link to "Discover All Genres," to emphasize that Live365 has every imaginable - and some unimaginable - genre in the book available.

Jeremy MergedWhen A user searches for a station, have that search scan our station descriptions For the results. For example someone could search for an artist we frequently play that might be listed in our descriptions. Not all stations fit neatly into the genres and can be harder to find.

Meek MergedI have a problem there is no available "Afrobeats" or "Afrobeat" or "Afrofusion" or "Afropop" "Afrorap" sub genres in Afrobeat. Or even "African Music" or "Africa". Can someone help to add these music genres tags. Even "Afro RnB". It would really mean a lot to include these musical classifications and subgenera.
Thank you. -

SakeBito MergedI'm against this - what it would do is essentially inject an "American Top 40"-type criterion of popularity-only for listings. Back in a late '70s Omni magazine article, a guy wrote something I've never forgotten: The wider your intended audience, the more bland a lowest-common-denominator you must adopt. The converse is often true too. "Sameness" is something I fight against with every song choice I make. I recommend the opposite: totally random, or just alphabetical listings.

Kevin MergedMy station plays big band music including modern big bands of today. Sometimes a band will play a modern rock or pop tune arrangement for big band. It’s still big band but Contemporary or Modern. Examples include Doc Severinsen & The Tonight Show Band. Gordon Godwin’s Big Phat Band. Maynard Ferguson, Mike Barone Big Band, etc.. These bands are not the same as Glenn Miller or Benny Goodman.
If a Contemporary Big Band genre could be added under Jazz that would help in the Genre part of the Station Profile. Thanks -

Scott Anderson MergedOur station's music is primarily bluegrass gospel, Southern Gospel, country gospel and Christian songs in Mandarin (the most widely spoken language in the world). There are genres for bluegrass gospel and Southern Gospel. But the closest thing I can find for country gospel is "gospel" .... country gospel is a completely separate genre from "gospel" and there are actually far more tracks available for country gospel music than there is for bluegrass music. And I could find nothing in the way of a genre for Mandarin or Chinese. Would love to see these two genres added: Country Gospel, Mandarin Christian (or Chinese Christian) either would be fine.

marc wieman MergedIsn't there a different message that you can post, telling people that the station is not on the air, rather than a 404 message that the station does not exist? I am afraid that the current message causes confusion.

SakeBito at Amanogawa Express MergedI always change my playlists in the runups to major holidays - Halloween and generally scary tunes in the weeks leading up to Halloween, "Christmassy" tunes before Christmas, a bit more of the sappy romantic tunes before Valentine's Day, etc.
It would be nice to be able to add the temporary "genres" of "Halloween," "Christmas," "Valentine's Day," maybe even "St.Patrick's Day" (gotta run a little Gary Moore and Rory Gallagher for that,) and "Independence Day" to the genre list for the station page, as a short-term thing in the 4-6 weeks leading up to each. -

AmanogawaExpressI would take the random grid of station icons that are currently on the main page and replace it with headers of all the genres, each with a random group of its respective station icons, and with the genre group positions shuffling randomly with each page-load.
I'm thinking that to a new visitor the current grid is instantly confusing (and in no way representative of the variety of stations available here,) where an instantly-visible list of genres (more than a paltry 4,) gives a page visitor, just as instantly, navigation by his or her particular interest. If they're not sure what they want to hear and are surfing for ideas, every page load shuffles the genre list - also serving to emphasize L365's variety.
I'd put the "Create your own" info on a secondary page. Right now the page is trying to do two things at once - confusingly. I'm thinking potential broadcasters are motivated to find that info on their own - but listeners are looking for quick, simple-to-find information. -

Kevin Geter MergedLive 365 should Rotate Listing ALL stations on the Live 365 Splash Page. I think its unfair when Live 365 only shows the same stations on its splash page. Stop doing this!! Embrace the fact that Live 365 has many great stations and stop turning it into what station is popular. And when you show different stations on the splash page, have the ability of letting the perspective broadcasters know. You could rotate this hourly or every 24 hours. Show off the other stations. Live 365 needs to promote and embrace the independent radio movement. I don't care to see NPR or other popular stations at the top of the Splash pages. Be progressive and have the guts to embrace us little broadcasters. There are some great station on Live 365 and all of us don't have big budgets.

DJ WhatsHisName? MergedI think a new station block on the main web page would be great instead of most listened to. It should show by genre as well. Also curating stations on the platform will have to be more often, and of more diverse genres and formats.

Thomas Callahan MergedWould you consider adding a link 'other Holiday stations' to your featured Christmas genre section on your website to give us other holiday stations a chance at listeners. (the old Live365 did that after featuring stations) and maybe add 'Holiday' as a Featured Genre. Also do for the other genres that are featured on the website.

benson MergedCan we find a better way to tell listeners that a stream is not available? when a station's status is "disabled" the Live365 website message basically tells anyone searching for our site that we don't exist. "Temporarily unavailable. Please check back later" might prevent sending listeners away for good.

Maggie G / UV - Ultimate Variety Radio MergedJust register your own URL at GoDaddy or any of the other domain hosting websites and use the redirect option. You'll maybe spend $15/year for your URL.
I've had mine redirected for so long, I don't even know what my Live365 URL is. -

Maggie G / UV - Ultimate Variety Radio MergedI don't even get what the point of sub-genre categories are, at the moment. When I'm looking at the website and click on a genre on the left of the page, it doesn't give me sub-genres to choose from after that. I have to scroll down the list of thousands of stations and look at each station to see what they're categorized as. When a sub-genre is listed under a station, it won't let me click on it to find all the stations within that sub-genre.

Lizzie MergedYour error message has our stations when down looking like we are gone forever.
Instead would you please create a message saying we'll be back momentarily, sorry for the inconvience or check their social media page for updates. Especially with this being a server glitch on your side we were experiencing.
Your current error message says we don't exist & directing listeners to find a new station.
Thank you. -

Thomas L Morton Merged"Jazz Fusion" is not currently a choice of genre when selecting them on our profile. This is a WIDE genre with many different genres infused with jazz influences, yet it's also a specific type of music with a specific makeup.
