Rotation/Separation Logic Options
An option that would allow you to select rotation logic for the playlist/clockwheels. Specifically by "Least recently played". in conjunction with the ability to adjust separation rules on a category basis.
Basically:
Category Selection: Hot Tracks, Top 40, Recurrent, Oldies etc etc
Separation: Heavy Rotation (i.e.: Album Separation 1hr, Artist Separation 1 hr, Title Separation 1 hr, Track separation 1 hr.
Logic: Least Recently Played/Playlist order/Random
This is basically the same principle as most playout software. While a tad more complicated to implement, if this could be done, many broadcasters would drop software/dedicated computer options for this. I know I would ;) MORE CONTROL!

Is this how the "Do Not Play" feature that can be checked for each track works? If I click the box, it won't be played in AutoDJ? -

Francis Ganon MergedIt would be useful to have the ability to take songs/genres/categories out of rotation while in Auto DJ mode. However, the broadcaster should still have the ability to play those songs/genres/categories in ClockWheels.

Brian Admin MergedBroadcasters would like a "rest" or other track Type that hides songs from AutoDJ without having to delete them. This would let them keep tracks out of rotation but still be able to call them from a ClockWheel if they wanted.

Alex Wright MergedThis would be a very useful feature and would allow for special “shows” featuring new music, different types of music, etc that shouldn’t be played during autoDJ.

Stephen MergedThis would be an extremely useful feature, and is one that I've been trying to figure out how to do. In the past when working in commercial radio, I've had the ability to day part certain songs. Really could use this feature now!

Degala Blalock-Melton MergedThis would be an awesome feature! I have "holiday " music in a playlist but I don't want it played until I am ready. Not in general rotation. I also have a gospel track wheel and don't want the gospel music played at other times.

Mark MergedAgree- this feature is much needed. My Halloween playlist will have to be deleted Nov 1. Ideally, I would take them out of rotation instead of deleting them from the library. Please help!

BillI would like to be able to be more strict with separation rules. I don't want the same song to repeat until several days have passed. I currently use 6 days per track and 4 hours per artist and would like to expand that further.

Tim Boudreau MergedWhen meta tagging ten songs by one artist, i.e., Paul McCartney... I want my artist names to appear accurate for listeners, just as they were on the label when released. So, if I upload 10 songs, and 3 are labeled Paul McCartney, 5 are labeled Wings, and 2 are labeled Paul McCartney & Wings, on occasion, it can play 3 songs in a row by Paul McCartney, when I have the system set to limit to 4 hour separation.
Instead of incorrectly relabeling all these tracks, there could be a hidden code/ISRC added when uploading a song. Each artist could have a unique number where all songs by that artist are labeled by that one code. In this example, all Paul McCartney, Wings, and Paul McCartney & Wings songs get the same code number "1", so the system searches for the artist, then the code number to avoid playing the same artist more than once every four hours. The listener will not see this code, but the Live365 system WILL during DMCA. The tracks with the same code would be separated. -

USA Dance Mix MergedSOLVED: Create a Quarantine category and put the tracks you want to restrict there. This will work in Clock Wheels as long as you don't add the Quarantine category to a clock wheel.

Several days should pass before a repeat play, or at least a much longer separation time of 240 minutes. please. -

ZebbyYeah, the "clockwheel" system right now is OK at playing tracks from various categories properly, but it isn't a true clockwheel in the sense that it doesn't keep track of what it's played in each category and it brings previously-played stuff up WAY too soon while ignoring half or more of any given category that hasn't rotated through to airplay yet. So functionally, your station may sound as if it has one-tenth the playlist depth that it actually has.

SakeBitoThis is gonna date me, but back in my BASIC programming days ('83! Sneeze, sorry...) a memorable assignment was to create an array - which was just two data lists, one full and one empty. Your code had to select items at random, one-by-one, from the full list and deposit each in the empty(er) list. It continued doing this until the formerly-full List A was empty and the formerly-empty List B was full. Then it would start over in reverse, B to A, and so on indefinitely.
If the AutoDJ had this kind of thing as a toggleable option it would handily eliminate replays.
Failing that, maybe just increase the available "Do not play same album/title/track within..." maximums to eight or ten hours, or just "full duration of track list." -

GrahamYes, please add more than the 240 minute limit for "DO NOT PLAY SAME TRACK WITHIN". Several days (7200 minutes) would be nice.

GrahamFor each category or type "inside" the Clockwheel, add an option for time constraints would be nice. You have "Random, Oldest Album, Oldest Artist, Oldest track, Most Recent Album, Most Recent Artist." Adding a time restraint option from to 0-5 days (0-7200 minutes) would be great.

Mary Layton MergedI would like to see this implemented - makes one look a bit of an amateur when you have Stevie Nicks followed by Fleetwood Mac followed by Stevie Nicks & Don Henley, etc. Pat Metheny-Pat Metheny Group-Pat Metheny Unity-Pat Metheny & David Bowie...followed by David Bowie & Queen, followed by Queen...I mean, we could go on.

Darryl DanielsHigher time and artist constraints are something needed for the type of programming we offer. Developing a loyal listener base can be damaged by repeated airings of songs. It comes across as a station that doesn't care. I have personally spent a great deal of time selecting all of the music loaded into our library to provide a certain listener experience and I would love that to come across to the person who decides to make our station a favorite of theirs.

Ralph Moore MergedI have been on Live365 for 6 years now and I always check out my station everyday to make sure that the station is playing the songs ok. But when I check it out and I'm on a few hours at a time or if I go off then come back on again I noticed that some songs I have on GMT is played after I heard them a few hours later. I now have over 3100 songs on my station. With 4 minute ads come on every hour and the songs played it looks like there should be enough time for the songs played not to be repeated in a few days but I noticed they R. I check my station everyday and noticed some songs R played everyday while others R not played at all. I wish that we could hear all the songs in a weeks time and not everyday or more than one time a day. I would like to see Live365 keep from the songs being played so much while the others don't get played at all. I can't count the way it would take for over 3,100 songs to play all week before they all would be played again. I hope U know what I mean here.

Darryl Daniels MergedI have uploaded thousands of songs to my station over the years. I have enough tunes in the files to go weeks without hearing the same song twice, but sometimes when I tune into my station I hear the same songs by the same artist for days. I would love if we could set the time between the repetition of track, perhaps as much 168 hours (1 week,.) Thanks for the consideration.

Geoff Gundelfinger MergedRight now, you can select:
'Oldest Track' and your categories will play tracks in the same order every time; or,
'Random,' where you'll get unwanted repetition of tracks.
Creating 'Shuffle' as a combination of 'Oldest Track' and 'Random' when adding categories in the Clockwheel would fix this. Once it plays through an entire category, it would shuffle the tracks - perhaps with a two-hour artist separation rule from the previous playthrough so that it doesn't repeat something that just played before the shuffle. -
