Cue points and markers for customizing track start, stop, and crossfade
A track editor view which lets you place cue points and markers along the duration of an audio file. The cue points control where the track starts and stops playing. Markers can be used to control how cross-fading is applied.

Merged comment: "Recommend a mix point editor similar to the one in Shoutcast." -

Philip AdminMerged comment: "Essentially, be able to set fade and mix times, or stop a track earlier than the length of the MP3."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "Also include the ability to flag tracks as "No Fade" for those that require a cold, hard start. Otherwise, the introductory vocal or hit would be missed by the fade. The flag would tell the system to start it at full volume regardless of the other cross-fade settings"

Philip AdminMerged comment: "Some automation systems automatically seek out the silent parts of tracks and place markers for both the In and Out cues. The DJ can then go in and adjust the marker by frames/milliseconds to get the timing more accurate. The system generated cue point might cut off a note or noise that is part of the song, so it's good to be able to adjust each one as needed."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "Would like to be able to overlap all tracks manually without fading in and out the volume, so cold-start songs with no intro don't fade in, but fire at full volume. Would like to be able to adjust this amount of overlap manually per track individually with tenths of seconds increments.
Including the ID and Ads set to overlap by 1/10th of a second. ID's and Ads are too abrupt in dead space, even with all silence chopped off the music tracks. Sounds like the DJ falls asleep at the switch. Transitions not smooth enough." -

Philip AdminMerged comment: "YES! I love the track overlap idea much more than the fade in/out. For my programming and transition tastes, I think this would work much better for me. Thank you, Tim, for suggesting this. I hope the team can implement this soon."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "It would be nice to be able to add a leading or trailing track to any specific track you choose. Example: leading track: a produced "new music" sweeper attached to a new music track Example: Trailing track: new music track plays then trailing track, produced promo for a new music show or even a voice track so that you can back sell a track in automation while still sounding live"

Philip AdminMerged comment: "Somewhere in the edit track section, the ability to toggle the fade in and/or fade out for an individual track. That would allow the system to see when a song is either a cold start or a cold out, and bypass the cross fader when needed."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "The ability to attach an audio file before or after a specific track so that each time the track plays the pre and/or post audio file plays to.
For example: you want to record a dj introduction to a song or provide some interesting fact about the artist of a song right after the song plays.
Currently it is very difficult to do this unless using a live DJ. If there were an option to attach a pre or post file to a track it would make it easier for those who don’t use a live DJ but would like to provide info and facts about a specific track/artist." -

Philip AdminMerged comment: "agreed. there's a lot of that "dj sounds like she or he fell asleep" or they can't find the right button to push, something. could easily be fixed by letting IDs and promos, recorded DJ breaks, etc, transition just as songs do."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "My suggestion is that Live365 add a feature to trim files in the library, with a play button so that you can hear what the file would sound like if you were to trim it. There should also be another option in a combobox, called Clipping, which plays the file as if it was trimmed, but doesn't actually cut the original file. The start and end markers should be in an edit field, example 3:25:000, for 3 minutes, 25 seconds, and Milliseconds."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "I agree with the suggestion about also being able to set a track to No Fade. This is important for ads, for example, where fade ins and fade outs aren't wanted. Also, in and out cue markers should be able to be set at any point in a track, not just at the start or end. That way, the voiceover (e.g., song title, artist, DJ comment, etc) can be placed within a song, for example, at a point where there's no singing."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "I'd be ecstatic if I could set a point at which the next element will start, generally referred to as the "EOM" (end of media) marker, after which a 3-second fade is applied. That'll clean up segues and work with cold, cold-fade and fade endings. I'm not in favor of letting automation do fade-ins & fade-outs beyond what I just described. The beginning of a song should always be started at full volume, in my opinion. I currently have crossfade duration set at 7 and type at logarithmic. The station is still not as tight as I'd like it, but a few cold-to-cold segues are a train wreck, depending on the amount of trailing silence."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "I would like to see an option where we can edit intros/outros of songs in our library. This would be useful for those who prefer not to use the multi track feature."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "I'm for this too. Some of my tracks have spoken word at the beginning or end before the track kicks in but as I am uploading batches of music to Live365, I wouldn't necessarily remember every track that has these to edit before hand. Once a track is uploaded, it would be good to have a simple editor so we can trim the track accordingly."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "Have a selection or add a button to click on track where one is allowed to edit a track. This is good where one can edit out dead air in a song."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "It would be nice to have the opportunity to trim tracks and edit its volume levels directly through our dashboard. Maybe add a link to the bottom of this page where we can click on the link and edit the track on the spot, then resave."

Philip AdminMerged comment: "Add the ability to edit a track online possibly using something like Audacity. This would help if a track had silence before or at the end. Station owner could call the track up, remove the unwanted area and save it."
